On Mission: Trusting in God Amid Doubt & Struggle

Leaf

First-generation Mexican Americans Omar and Gabi have also been the first in their families to count the cost of following Jesus where he is calling them. Along the way, God has led them counter to family desires, comfort, upward mobility, and doubt into transformation and abundant life. Learn how God uses our struggles to shape and transform us as we follow Jesus in mission.

Omar Cova

Omar Cova is a Mexican-born, Los Angeles-raised follower of Jesus.  Rescued by Jesus at 19, he has since experienced Jesus’ call to cross borders with the gospel in urban and cross-cultural contexts.  Omar has served Jesus on various short-term mission trips in six different countries and lived in Nagpur, India, for 15 months with his family. In 2018, he joined Servant Partners and is currently ministering at Hope Community Church in East Los Angeles. He is happily married to Gabriela, and they have three kids.

Gabi Cova

Gabi Cova was born in Mexico and grew up in California, living in the same low-income neighborhood known for drugs and gang violence for 20-plus years. She wanted to escape once she got her education, but when she gave her life to Christ, God planted a new dream to see her neighbors come to faith. So Gabi focused on loving people, leading a junior high boys’ Bible study and an afterschool program before graduating with her master’s degree in education. Beyond her work in her neighborhood, she’s also served cross-culturally in Ecuador, Mexico, and India. Gabi is married and has three kids.
