Perhaps the three most influential square feet on earth today are the three feet behind a university lectern. Equally influential is the research flowing out of these universities. This seminar explores how to be a missional professor in both teaching and research in secular universities beyond North American borders.
Missions in Every Sector
Global poverty. Inter-faith engagement. Church planting. These require more than a prayerful spirit, a willing heart, and an available body. They require a missional mind, one shaped by Scripture, engaged with the culture, and able to bring our whole person to the task of God’s global mission.
How does the story of Christianity intersect with modern science? How can a Christian simultaneously believe the Bible and scientific theories? How can a credible scientist be Christian? This seminar explores how faith and science are commensurate through (1) philosophical arguments and (2) modern scientific discoveries in quantum mechanics.
Artists offer imagination and beauty to the body of Christ and bring shalom to the world. We will search the Scriptures to find the identity and mission uniquely given to artists to bring God’s kingdom on earth. We will also consider specific and innovative ways for artists to engage in missions.
Given the needs in our own community, is it unwise or hypocritical for us as black people to get involved in cross-cultural missions? Why help to alleviate poverty, address injustice, or proclaim the good news elsewhere when many of the people from our own neighborhoods are in such need?
Artists are some of the most influential people in our society. They influence our society, but who is influencing their thinking and their soul? Come discuss how to effectively reach the artists on your campus and in your city.

Come hear a biblical basis for diverse worship, some frameworks and values that shape the Urbana 15 Worship Team’s approach, and some practical ways to bring the Urbana worship experience back with you.
Beginning with a few practices and principles of biblically based worship, this seminar will highlight the impact of Western music on the history and life of the global Church and then present a model for encouraging and developing culturally appropriate arts and worship forms for faith communities around the world.
