5 Tips to Fully Engage the Exhibit Hall

1. Go with an Open Mind

It’s a good idea to use your passions as a starting point when walking through the exhibit hall. But don’t stop there. God may have planned opportunities for you that you may have never considered before. The exhibit hall is a great place for confirming callings but also for discovering new ones.

2. Listen to God

As you talk with representatives, be attentive to the Spirit’s promptings and voice. Ask yourself, “Is this exhibitor a good fit for me and my gifts?” and wait for God’s response.

3. Don’t Be Intimidated

People, booths, flyers everywhere—the exhibit hall can be pretty overwhelming. Just remember our exhibitors aren’t here to tell you what you should be doing for the rest of your life. They’re here to help you discern your next steps and seek God’s direction.

4. Don’t Feel Guilty

Remember that you’re one person. God isn’t calling you to try to fix the world all by yourself. So if you don’t think your skills and interests are a good match with an exhibitor and don’t sense the Spirit’s leading, that’s ok. There’s no need to feel sorry or ashamed.

5. Remember the Big Picture

The opportunities to join God’s global mission aren’t limited to Urbana’s exhibit hall. If you don’t find the perfect organization or seminary, don’t be discouraged. God has blessed you with gifts and a calling. Keep pursuing him and waiting for his direction and timing.
