Women of Color in Urban Ministry

Speakers

Janet Singleterry is a Thai-American, who grew up in Indiana. She worked on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA for 11 years, on the Indiana University campus for seven years and then as the national Global Urban Trek Coordinator for four. Janet also directed the Trek teams of college students headed to Thailand to live and serve alongside the urban poor in Bangkok for many years. She and her husband are on staff with Servant Partners as the directors of the San Jose site leading an internship of young urban ministers as well as pastoring Shalom Iglesia, a bilingual congregation in their low-income Latino neighborhood.

Jen Chi Lee was born and raised in Hawai‘i as a child of Korean immigrants. Since 2005, she has been working with Servant Partners, a missions organization working with the urban poor to transform their communities. She has lived in Johannesburg, South Africa for the last eight years, working with women and churches. Jen is interested in navigating the tensions between justice and reconciliation, privilege and marginalization, and stress and resilience.

Shabrae Jackson Krieg is a community change facilitator with 20 plus years working in global urban communities and the U.S. Through collaboration and co-creation, she implements innovative projects that catalyze individual and community change through experiential learning, the expressive arts, and movement-based methodologies. She loves helping others explore the spaces where art, play, and transformation meet. She is also a Coordinator with First Aid Arts and has a master’s in Expressive Arts for Conflict Transformation and Peace-building.
