STEM for the World

Participating in God’s global mission is just for pastors and missionaries, right? This couldn’t be further from the truth. Maybe God has filled you with a passion for science, technology, engineering, or math. Join us as we explore ways that STEM can change the world by spreading the hope of Jesus.

Duvon McGuire

Duvon McGuire has been the President of New Life International since 2004. After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Asbury University in 1981, he worked as a “broad generalist” in the thermal insulation industry. In 1998, Duvon felt a call to take the tools of STEM into the non-profit world. He is the visionary of off-the-beaten-path innovations and strategies to help where helping helps and never hurts. Duvon and his wife have two children as well as an adopted daughter in Nepal … and over a dozen children who have adopted them as grandpa and grandma.

Victor Mavika

Originally from Tanzania, Victor Mavika has been involved with New Life International (NLI) since 2015 after being introduced to the organization and their safe water solutions at Urbana. As an ambassador of hope, he has returned to his home country to install purifiers and educate communities on the importance of safe water. He later interned and currently serves NLI as a Mechanical Engineer using STEM to advance the gospel. He’s currently pursuing a Master’s in Material Science and Energy at the University of Louisville. Victor enjoys fishing, gardening, cooking, and playing with CNC machines in his free time.
