Science and Christianity: Resolving Conflicts and Seeking Harmony

The perceived conflict between science and Christianity causes many unchurched people to dispute Scripture and others to leave their faith. Together we will consider the question of creation and evolution to illustrate how to resolve seeming conflicts. Explore how and why science and faith can coexist and how you as a Christian can help dispel controversies with those around you.

As a Christian biologist trained in science education research, April Maskiewicz Cordero investigates students’ perceptions of the relationship between science and Christianity regarding controversial issues (i.e., origins, evolution, human origins). She gave a TEDx talk on evolution and faith and was featured in From the Dust, a BioLogos-sponsored documentary. She is also active in several professional development projects with schoolteachers as well as university biology faculty, and was one of four professors coordinating the PLNU/BioLogos Biology by the Sea Christian school teacher program.

Jim Stump oversees the development of new content and curates existing content for the BioLogos website and its print materials. He has a PhD in Philosophy from Boston University and previously was a philosophy professor and academic administrator. He has written and edited a number of books, the latest being Science and Christianity.
