Race, Common Memory, & Community: Taking the Conversation to the Next Level

“Where community is to be formed, common memory must be created.” Throughout U.S. history, the Declaration of Independence has been referenced as our foundation of equality. However, thirty lines below “all men are created equal,” the Declaration dehumanizes Natives as “merciless Indian savages.” This seminar will teach an accurate common memory.
