Prophetic & Priestly Roles in Health Care Missions

Cross-cultural Christian professionals increasingly join government, nonprofit, and for-profit service providers. Considering healthcare ministry through the biblical offices of prophet and priest, we’ll see how we can represent people to God as priestly “insiders” trained to treat as God heals while representing God to people as prophetic “outsiders” advocating biblical ethics and justice to local partners.

Dr. Kris Prenger

Dr. Kris Prenger served in cross-cultural medical work for nearly 30 years. She is a family medicine doctor who worked on the Navajo Reservation prior to service in South Asia from 1997 to 2021. Her areas of expertise included community health and development with limited clinical work in Ob-Gyn initially, then Med-Peds, teaching Theological Education by Extension, training staff in the Kairos Course (translated Perspectives) and Disciple-making Movement/Discovery Bible Study. She trained at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MPH in 2005) and Fuller Theological Seminary (MA in Intercultural Studies in 2018).
