Gaining Access to the Pond: Advocacy in Mission

Many Christians understand the need for development, but what do we do when we face unjust laws and policies? How do we engage these powers as Christians? This seminar draws on the experience of a community organizer and activist minister, including a new model called faith-rooted organizing and biblical public policy advocacy.

Speakers

Alexia Salvatierra has engaged in holistic urban ministry for 40 years. She also cofounder of the Evangelical Immigration Table, the Guardian Angels Project, and the Matthew 25 Network. Alexia is a Lutheran pastor and an adjuct professor for several universities and seminaries. She has trained many through InterVarsity Urban and Global Programs, World Vision, the Christian Community Development Association, and a number of other ministries. She has experienced cross-cultural missions in the Philippines, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Senegal, and South Africa.
