How can we avoid our Christian witness becoming confused with, or even corrupted by, political ideologies of the right or left? How do we maintain our witness and integrity when our culture constantly demands we take sides? Is it possible to be politically interested or involved without losing our prophetic voice? David “Monty” Montgomery

David “Monty” Montgomery is the Regional Secretary for IFES Europe. He was involved in reconciliation ministries in Ireland during the civil conflict and believes the lessons learned from that conflict may have some relevance to today’s increasing political polarization. Monty has a master’s from Regent College and a doctorate from Covenant Seminary. As a parish minister and with IFES, he has had a Bible exposition ministry in many countries. He is married to Gwen, enjoys cycling, crime fiction, and soccer (He’s a lifelong follower of Manchester City F.C.).
