Justice
Poverty affects many people. Christians are called to be agents of change. Join us as we delve into the Gospel of Matthew and seek ways of working together with people in poverty to create sustainable change in their lives.
This seminar will feature youth activists from Hands Up United and prominent clergy leaders in Ferguson, Missouri, who were at the forefront of the Ferguson resistance to systemic racism and structural oppression. We will explore their programmatic collaborations and discuss how they can be useful models in your local ministries and cities.
Using the award winning film 3 1/2 Minutes as a primary source of shared experience and conversation, we’ll explore the intersection of justice, race, and faith. The biblical justice-based curriculum we’ll use as the primary discipleship and training material can be easily replicated on campuses.
Now is the time to start practicing a lifetime commitment to thoughtful justice. These practices will help you do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly on your campus, in your vocation, and in the world. Based on Slow Kingdom Coming, a new IVP book by Kent coming out in May.
I trust that God’s patient love can redeem White identity, enabling us to develop healthy interracial relationships and transforming unjust institutions. With gentleness and grace, I will teach briefly about the system of racial injustice but primarily about following Jesus with integrity as White people in North America.
