Ramez Atallah

Ramez Atallah

General Secretary, Bible Society of Egypt, Cairo, Egypt

(as of 2009)

As the Bible expositor for Urbana 09, Ramez will teach from the Gospel of John each morning at the Urbana conference. Ramez is the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Egypt and is the Honorary President of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. Born and raised in Egypt, Ramez moved to Canada with his family as a teenager. He came to know Christ through a local church in Canada, and grew in his faith as a student at McGill University where he was involved with Inter-Varsity.  In 1980, Ramez and his wife, Rebecca, left Canada and moved back to his home country of Egypt to minister in the garbage village outside Cairo.

With tension rising between the West and the Middle East, between Christians and Muslims, Ramez stands in the gap. He offers deep insight on the Scriptures, and as an Arab Christian, he brings a fresh perspective on living the Christian life that will inspire and challenge North Americans.

Ramez was formerly the Director of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada, in Quebec. He holds degrees from McGill University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
