Vision:
Providing inner healing to the broken hearted and sexually exploited in war-torn regions of Africa through the power of God's love, counseling, and relationships. Our vision is to see hearts, lives, and communities radically transformed by inner healing, the Father's love, and the Kingdom of heaven so that the broken might walk in wholeness and fulfill their God-given destinies.
Describe the types of ministry opportunities your agency will offer to Urbana 12 participants:
We have many opportunities to serve in missions in Uganda, and also to volunteer in the USA to help our work on the ground. We have a Rescue Home for girls, which is a holistic after-care home for 17 young girls ages 5-15 who have been used in child prostitution, abandoned and abused. We're breaking the devastating cycle of the global sex industry and giving these girls a chance to dream. We need mentors, counselors, and childcare workers to work on a daily basis to raise these girls up to be daughters of God, and leaders in their community. We also have an Imani Jewelry Program, which is our socially conscious business which seeks to free women from the global sex trade and devastating effects of human trafficking and alleviate poverty through healing, empowerment, and fashion design. We partner with women escaping the global sex trade to create jewelry which is handmade from indigenous materials, so that they might restore their dignity through work which does not require they sell their bodies. All jewelry is hand-crafted in northern Uganda and women receive fair trade wages, which empower them to provide for their families, educate their children, and reach their potential. Imani also offers: Trauma counseling Savings and budgeting classes Medical care Childcare English classes Outreach to the community where women give back We have many volunteer positions open here with Jewelry Design, Marketing, Production Assistants, Business skills and Mentoring the women. We also run counseling seminars on a regular basis to heal the brokenhearted. We need students with a background in counseling and evangelism outreach. Our critical requirements are listed individually for each job on our website: http://www.zionproject.org/jobs however we want people with a Mature, Christian faith, a flexible and warm personality, and a teachable spirit. Skills in the the areas we need people are also very helpful.
