Our vision is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in rural West Africa, establish Churches for the maturing of believers and see them sent out in missions to other unreached peoples, as well as promoting community development through education, medical care/training, and vocational training. We desire to see the local Church prosper in every way and be a base of sharing developmental skills with their neighbors.
Describe the types of ministry opportunities your agency will offer to Urbana 12 participants:
- Medical outreach to village school children, no specific medical background required for some of the work, others with medical training may benefit from working alongside of local doctors and nurses and learn about tropical diseases. - Evangelism/discipleship in a local village; Be able to share what God has done in your own life, have a good knowledge of scripture if the person wants to be able to do any teaching. We have Sunday services, Bible studies, literacy classes in local language for people who want to read the Bible. We hold evangelism outreaches with preaching, showing films, answering questions. - We hold various courses to help people develop their practical skills; i.e. sewing, mechanics, electrical/plumbing work, carpentry. Those who have skills in a practical area would be welcome to share their knowledge and help people develop new skills to add to their knowledge base. - English courses; either practical oral exercise with local students, no training required, OR teaching English as a second language which would require that training before arrival on site.
