CTI Music Ministries
Primary Exhibit Hall Category:service
Vision:CTI is a community of young people who combine their common passion for music with their desire to share the love of Christ, and a vehicle through which these young people are trained, equipped and mobilized to use their gifting to impact their generation. We help ministry organizations around the world reach young people with the gospel by providing the resource of a well-trained music team - strengthening and challenging Christians in places where they gather, and bringing the light of Jesus to places where He may not be known. We desire to see all team members leave their CTI experience with an expanded worldview, a more missional mindset, and a continuing desire to impact their world by embracing ministry and discipleship as lifelong commitments.
Describe the types of ministry opportunities your agency will offer to Urbana 12 participants:Urbana participants will be offered the opportunity to participate in one of our two ministry programs – our short-term “Summer program” and our year-long “Fulltime program.” Through our programs, CTI works to “make disciples of all nations” by developing Christian leadership and character in young musicians, training them in servanthood, awareness, and the active sharing of their faith, and mobilizing them in partnership with the Church and other established Christian organizations worldwide to support mission and ministry through the impact of music. Opportunities to serve as a member of our office staff may also exist and be presented to Urbana participants from time to time. FULLTIME PROGRAM: Each August, CTI trains and mobilizes two ministry teams which travel the US and parts of Canada through May of the following year. These teams perform in churches, colleges, schools, prisons and other venues where they encourage the church, challenge Christians to loving action in response to Christ’s call to “make disciples of all nations,” and share the hope of Christ with those who don’t know Him. As they minister, they support our ongoing outreach efforts worldwide through their specific focus on recruiting other young musicians, maintaining awareness of our ministry among our partners here in North America, and raising financial support for the organization through concert offerings and special fundraising projects. The teams also travel internationally each fall to minister to young people and explore opportunities for our summer short-term teams. The fulltime program is a community experience which focuses on leadership development, formation of Christian character, and the continuing process of personal discipleship while discipling others. Graduates of the fulltime program who demonstrate an appropriate readiness will conclude their one-year commitment to CTI as members of our summer ministservant-leadership team. Participants in the program must be at least 18 years old and have graduated high school. Applicants who are married or over the age of 30 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. SUMMER PROGRAM: During the months of June, July, and August, we train and mobilize several short-term teams to minister internationally. These teams partner with existing ministries (usually Youth for Christ or Youth With a Mission) in support of their mission to reach the youth of their country with the Gospel. Summer teams give concerts in schools, prisons, orphanages, street corners, parks, churches, and any other location where our partners are working. Team members use the impact of music to share their faith with young people in the host culture and connect them with our ministry partners and the local church. The teams go at the invitation of our hosts. They support the efforts of our partner ministry through their focus on servanthood, modeling the example of Jesus, who did not come to be served, but to serve. The summer program is an experience through which participants grow in Christian character and servant posture, deepen their understanding of the Great Commission, and learn to actively share their faith. At the conclusion of the experience, team members return home with a more missional mindset, an expanded worldview, a deeper understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Christ, and a desire to impact others with what God has shown them. Participants in our summer program must be at least 16 years old by the beginning of their training. Applications will be individually considered for exceptionally qualified 15-year-olds who will turn 16 during the summer of their participation. Applicants who are married or over the age of 30 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
