J. Scott Ries, MD

As Vice President and National Director of Campus & Community Ministries for the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA), Dr. J. Scott Ries has his finger on the pulse of issues facing students and residents in today’s rapidly changing medical environment.  Dr. Ries provides national leadership for CMDA Campus Chapters on over 240 medical and dental schools in the U.S., and over 100 metro-area ministry groups of practicing doctors.

Dr. Ries is passionate about introducing the next generation of healthcare professionals to the tremendous privilege of serving God through responsible missional work, both overseas as well as in their own practice right at home.  He has led hundreds of medical students and doctors to discover the joy of seeing lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

An award winning family physician, his clinical career has included faculty appointments at Indiana University School of Medicine and Butler University, and has spanned from academic medicine, to clinical research, to full time private practice. He continues to actively see patients in the Tennessee/Virginia area.  Dr. Ries has functioned as medical consultant for ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox network affiliates, and provides weekly radio commentary for radio stations in Chicago and across the state of Florida.

Renee Lick

Renee Lick MA, RN, has been a nurse for over 10 years and a follower of Jesus for even longer. She currently serves as the Student Ministries Director with Nurses Christian Fellowship (NCF), one of InterVarsity’s Strategic Ministries. Renee recently finished a seminary degree at North Park Theological Seminary with an emphasis on faith and health, and lives in Chicago where she was part of the launch team for a multiethnic church plant in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Renee’s past nursing experience is in intensive care and she currently works part-time at Lawndale Christian Health Center, which provides care for those with limited access to quality healthcare in Chicago. She serves on the board of directors of Christian Community Health Fellowship (www.cchf.org), an organization of healthcare professionals and students who are committed to living out the gospel through healthcare among the poor.

Renee has co-led two global projects to Africa and enjoys walking alongside students in cross-cultural experiences. She has been on staff with Nurses Christian Fellowship for 9 years and is excited about what God is currently doing among nursing students. Renee speaks to students across the country and challenges them to care for everyone with respect and dignity, practice nursing as ministry, and take part in of God’s mission of transformation in their school of nursing and in the world!
