Creation Care and the Kingdom of God

Most Christians agree that we should steward God’s creation, but how are we supposed to fit another thing into our lives? And why? This interactive panel discussion features stories of how caring for creation is integral to our Christian walk and fundamental to our calling to serve God’s kingdom.

Speakers

As a student at Urbana 09, Brittany Ederer heard a call from God to go into creation care work. She studied Wildlife Ecology and Latin American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then joined Care of Creation as the Special Projects Coordinator. Brittany went back for an M.S. in Environmental Conservation and returned to Care of Creation as the Outreach Specialist. As a grad student, she lived in the Peruvian Amazon, directing a rainforest ecology assessment while working with a missions organization.

Kyle Meyaard-Schaap serves with Y.E.C.A. to draw together Christians to take action to overcome the world’s climate crisis. He has been featured for his work in national and international news outlets such as PBS, NPR, NBC News, Reuters, and U.S. News & World Report. Kyle holds an undergraduate degree in religious studies from Calvin College, a Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary, and is ordained in the Christian Reformed Church in North America. He has experienced cross-cultural missions in places like Mexico, Hungary, Eastern Europe, and Kenya. 

Dr. Brian Keas works with faculty and staff to provide Christ-centered educational programs to people of all ages with a significant outreach to college students. He has always been amazed and inspired by the beauty and diversity of God’s creation around the world, having shared the gospel in Peru, taught in Ecuador, conducted research in Costa Rica, and simply enjoyed the Creator and creation during travel in France, Spain, and Italy. Prior to joining Au Sable, Brian served at Hope College and Ohio Northern University.
