  • Gain practical insight through seminars with a global lens
  • Network with alumni and staff from campuses around the world to consider your next steps after graduation

*Third culture kids (TCKs) are usually, but not limited to, children of diplomats, military personnel, multinational company executives, and missionaries, who spend a significant part of their developmental years in a region and culture different from their parents’ culture of origin. As a result, TCKs have a unique (third) culture that’s distinct from, but significantly influenced by, the culture of their parents and that of the region where they live.

TCKs typically draw much more significance from their relationships with people than they do from places. However, everyone’s experience will be different depending on many factors, like how much time they spent in a particular culture, how old they were, what type of exposure they had, etc. For more information, refer to http://www.tckworld.com/tckdefine.html

Track Leadership

Sharon Messmore, Global Students Track, Director

Sharon is the Strategic Projects Associate in InterVarsity’s International Student Ministry department. After doing some freelance video production work, Sharon had several rich experiences that encouraged her to pursue international ministry. Given her service as the Assistant Track Director of the International Student Track at Urbana 15, she’s excited to lead this new track and watch God work.

”As an international student, it’s just great you get to meet people from all around the world and connect with them, share your experiences together, and most importantly get to see what God is calling you to do. That is so rewarding. You should definitely go.”

—Sarah

“I just came out from a prayer session with over 200 fellow Chinese believers. Of course, I know God is doing things in China, but it’s nothing like seeing it firsthand to see so many fellow believers from my own country that I did not know about. It reminds me that the call of Jesus is bigger than any one of us. It’s a truly ecumenical movement that’s going on right now, and seeing it firsthand is very touching.”

—YC
