GENERAL

What is Urbana 22?

Urbana 22 is InterVarsity’s 26th triennial Student Missions Conference. It’s a discernment space that brings together a diverse group of students and calls them — through multicultural worship, Bible exposition, and teaching from worldwide missions experts — to give their whole lives for God’s global mission.

For more information, visit the About Urbana or Past Urbanas pages.

Where and when will Urbana 22 happen?

Urbana 22 will be held in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The large morning and evening sessions will take place at the Indianapolis Convention Center located at 100 South Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46225.

Urbana 22 will start Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, with check-in between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The opening session is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in the Indianapolis Convention Center.

Urbana will end after the final general session with everyone welcoming in the new year together on Jan. 1, 2023, at 12:30 a.m.

Who is Urbana for?

Most Urbana participants are college and graduate students ranging from 17 to 29 years old. However, anyone interested in global missions or discerning God’s call for his or her life is welcome. Many pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders have been particularly blessed by their experiences at past Urbana conferences. Participants must be at least 16 years old by Dec. 28, 2022, and in high school.

Is Urbana 22 for non-Christians?

Urbana 22 focuses on global missions, but many people have come to faith in the past. If you’re considering inviting someone who isn’t a Christian, show them some of the videos from past Urbanas, so they know what to expect. Also, try to coordinate housing so that you can experience the conference together.

Do you have age restrictions?

Yes, Urbana requires participants to be at least 16 years old by Dec. 28, 2022, and in high school. However, they may stay with their parents/guardians in their hotels. Urbana will not pay for their housing or childcare.

Are pets allowed at Urbana?

Pets aren’t allowed at Urbana venues, but service animals (meeting federal regulation criteria) are welcome. If you are going to bring a service animal, please notify Urbana and your hotel in advance.

Where can I order Urbana swag?

PRICING & FINANCIAL AID

How much does it cost to go to Urbana?

Registration costs $715 for general participants. Students will get $100 off — if they register as students.

At the time of registration, you’re only required to pay a non-refundable $75 deposit to reserve your space. You can pay the remaining balance in several installments throughout the year or all at once just as long as it’s before you check in on Dec. 28, 2022. Registration fees must be paid in USD funds with credit/debit card, check, or money order. Urbana does not retain registration information from past conferences, so everyone will have to create a new account when they register.

What’s covered in my registration fee?

The registration fee includes access to conference programing (Dec. 28-31). You are responsible for housing, travel, and all meals. Urbana’s registration system, however, does give you the opportunity to reserve a hotel room at a discounted rate starting Sept. 7, 2022.

How much should I budget to attend Urbana 22?

Registration costs $715 for general participants. Students will get $100 off — if they register as students.

Housing: If you take advantage of Urbana’s discounted rate on hotel rooms, plan on spending about $125-150 plus tax each night. Finding roommates can help lower the cost.

Meals: Plan on spending around $120. But this can vary a lot based on where you eat while travelling and on-site.

Transportation: Costs will obviously vary based on where you’re traveling from, but we recommend budgeting $500 as a rough starting number.

Are scholarships or financial aid available?

If you live in the U.S., contact your local InterVarsity campus ministers. Also, reach out to your local church, Christian college chaplain or spiritual life office (if applicable), or other campus ministries. They may have sources of financial aid.

If you live outside of the U.S., please contact your local IFES movement to ask about scholarships for Urbana.

And finally, consider signing up for conference updates to get the best discounts!

How do I apply an Urbana Gift Card?

Gift cards purchased at Urbana 18 may be used to reduce your Urbana 22 registration fee. Your gift card contains a unique identification number. Enter that number in the discount code box when you register for Urbana.

Gift cards are not a method of payment and therefore do not cover the $75 non-refundable deposit. Gift cards can only be used once, and only one gift card can be used per registration. Gift cards expire Dec. 3, 2022.

Already registered?
Email urbana.information@intervarsity.org with the gift card code, so it can be applied to your account.

Need to cancel your registration?
Urbana Gift Cards are not eligible for a cash refund; however, you may transfer your gift card to another participant by emailing urbana.information@intervarsity.org.

What if I lost my Urbana Gift Card?

Per the terms and conditions on the card when purchased (see below), Urbana isn’t responsible for lost or stolen Urbana Gift Cards. These cards now expire Dec. 3, 2022.

The card’s terms and conditions state: “Only one card can be applied per participant. It cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash. Urbana will not give reimbursements for lost or stolen Urbana 21 Gift Cards. Treat this card like cash and keep it in a secure location.”

You may want to consider contacting local InterVarsity campus ministers about possible scholarship options. Your church, Christian college chaplain or spiritual life office (if applicable), or other campus ministries may also have sources of financial aid.

Also, consider signing up for conference updates to get the best discounts!
