I have a friend who is pursuing career missions and is interested in serving in Rwanda. Can you recommend some missions agencies that are currently working there? Thanks!
Thanks, Courtney, for your question.
There are a number of agencies working in Rwanda. I don’t know the country and can only mention some names that are well known in other contexts. Also, I don’t know the kind of work your friend would be interested in doing, or what his denominational preference would be. At any rate, I’ll mention a few:
- African Enterprise, Inc (since 1988)
They are especially involved in evangelistic efforts. Most of their workers are Africans.
- Campus Crusade for Christ (since 1980)
Crusade focuses especially on university student ministry, but in some countries branches out into other ministries as well.
- Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society (Also known as World Venture)
World Venture is committed to the utilization of biblically based, culturally appropriate strategies, which result in healthy, reproducing New Testament churches. Nine strategic priorities: reaching the least evangelized people of the world; discipling a new nation; mobilizing national Christians for effective ministry; planting vibrant local churches; offering help to the poor and suffering; entering restricted access nations; evangelizing the great urban centers of the world; anticipating the open doors of tomorrow; applying innovation to the mission strategies of tomorrow.
Denominational Mission Agencies include:
- Assemblies of God World Missions
- Church of the Nazarene
- Free Methodist world Missions
- Evangelical Friends Mission
Relief organizations include:
- Christian Reformed World Relief
- World Concern
I trust this report will be helpful.
