Hi Jack,I am a nurse ...

Amanda asked:

Hi Jack,I am a nurse working at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I originally went into nursing feeling as if God wanted to use my skills as a missionary. However the past few years I have drifted away from God and his plan for my life. I have been convicted and miss my old self. I attended Urbana 03' and remember the excitment that I felt hearing about the difference that everyone there was making in the lives of others. I remember my desire and the calling that God had on my heart that I needed to experience being a missionary. I now have dedicated the summer to finding God again and his will for my life. I believe that this will include missionary work. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for mission groups that need nurses. I am thinking of sometime in the fall or winter. I need to spend the summer building my heart back up and becoming the strong Christian example that I once was. Thanks so much! God Bless!Amanda

Jack Answered:

Amanda, I congratulate you on your decision to return to the Lord. There is nothing like being in "the far country" to help us appreciate what it was like to be in intimate fellowship with the Father! May this summer be all - and more - that you long for it to be.

I often recommend two Search Engines for Missions: 1) Right Now http://www.rightnow.org/worldConnection.aspx

2) Mission finder: http://www.missionfinder.org/

You might also try the Urbana.org "M Search."

As you prepare for missionary service, let me recommend the NCF Press Book Caring Across Culture: Preparing for Effective Missionary Nursing a good place to start in finding answers to your questions about missions and preparing for missions. It is available on the NCF website, www.ncf-jcn.org under resources.

Blessings on you, Amanda. Let me know how you make out.
