Hi Jack. I'm 23, and hope ...

Ingrid asked:

Hi Jack. I'm 23, and hope to soon graduate with a Bachelor's in History from a Christian university. I am currently working as a Production Assistant for a major motion picture company's costume department. I am blessed to have this job, but lately I've been feeling God calling me to missions. I studied in part of the time Europe, and have a passion for that culture and all that history, and my experience with both believers and unbelievers that I met there. Basically I don't know where to start. I never thought this would be my calling, but as each day passes the longing and passion only grows. Are there any Organizations where an avid history lover/ costuming assistant would fit in? Thank you SO much!! Ingrid

Jack Answered:

Thank you, Ingrid, for your question about mission opportunities in Europe. At this moment I am far from home here in Medellín, Colombia, preparing to teach a course in the Biblical Seminary of Colombia and so don’t have access to my resources. I am aware of the long term ministry of Greater Europe Mission, working in Europe since 1949. Here is a statement from their website: Since 1949 God has used GEM to transform the lives of thousands in Europe by training Europeans to reach Europe. GEM is working to ignite discipleship movements in 50 cities over the next five years (50 in 5) by reproducing disciples of Jesus who make other disciples. To that end, GEM partnered in 2011 with two trainers who had helped spark a movement in South East Asia that grew to more than a million believers in less than a decade. Hundreds of GEM’s field workers, European co-workers, and North American church partners have been trained in a seamless Biblical framework to initiate effective evangelism and discipleship. We call this discipleship multiplication training or DMT. (http://www.gemission.org/about-us) I would encourage you to contact them, share your education and experience, and ask them to give you suggestions as to the next step. They know the field, opportunities, contacts they have, plus other organizations that may fit your unique background and interests even better. May the Lord continue to guide you as He focuses your call to mission. Jack I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. (Ps 73:23-24).
