Business as Mission

Neal Johnson, PhD,  JD, has an extensive and unique 40-year background as an attorney, banker, educator, businessman and entrepreneur, both domestically and internationally. He has served in such widely diverse positions as a bank president, president of his state’s bankers association, District Governor of Rotary International, co-founder of the first western style bank in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan and one of the negotiators on the Panama Canal Treaty. He has traveled in over 70 countries, lived in 12, pastored a church in northern Italy, planted a church in Kazakhstan and served on the mission field in Latin America and on the Boards of Directors for missions in Armenia, Moscow and Latin America. Dr. Johnson’s book, Business as Mission (BAM):  A Comprehensive Guide to Theory and Practice (InterVarsity, 2009) has been called “the most authoritative guide on the subject currently available” and is being used as a BAM text by universities and colleges across the country.  Dr. Johnson is Professor of Business and Management, and Executive Director of the Center for Business as Mission, at Hope International University, Fullerton, California.  He and his wife, Frecia Johnson, who also has an earned PhD from Fuller Seminary, live in Newport Beach, California.
